GRUETLI-LAAGER - James Douglas Scissom, 68, died Friday, September 23, 2011. He was a US Army Veteran. He was born in Whitwell on January 18, 1943 to Earl and Lucille McCarver Scissom who preceded him in death along with his son, James Douglas Scissom, Jr.; sisters, Barbara Sherman, Wanda Layne and Jewell Jones; brother, J.L. Scissom. He is survived by his sisters, Earlene (James) Cook and Patricia (Mark) Payne; brothers, Charles E. "Sam" (Janie) Scissom and Anthony (Deborah) Scissom. Graveside funeral services will be 4:00 PM Sunday at the Fall Creek Cemetery with military honors by the Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard. There will be no visitation.
