COALMONT - Mr. Johnny Parson, 85, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 28, 2012 at the Sheltering Arms Home in Palmer surrounded by his family. He was a US Army veteran of WWII, retired Coal Miner, attended the Methodist Church and had been employed by Grundy County at the Coalmont Convenience Center. He was born on September 12, 1926 to Thomas and Lula Patrick Parson who preceded him in death along with his sons, Gaylon L. Parson and Rodger K. Parson; daughter, JaNora L. Dixon; sisters, Willie Hobbs, Mae Thompson, Pauline Melton and Mary Sue Parson; brothers, James, Franklin, Tommy and Lee Andrew Parson. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Bessie Bennett Parson; daughter, Shirley Ann Parson, Tracy City; sons, Dean (Carol) Parson, Coalmont and Scott (Natalie) Parson, Monteagle; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Claude (Ophelia) Parson, Altamont; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Joe Nunley officiating with burial to follow in the Bonnie Oaks Cemetery with Military Honors provided by Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard. Visitation: 5:00 PM - 10:00 PM Saturday at Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, Tennessee
