BEERSHEBA SPRINGS - Bro. Glyn F. Killian, 88, passed away and went Home in the afternoon on November 18, 2011. He died peacefully while at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. He was born on January 24, 1923 to his late parents Burl Franklin and Hallie Frances Killian, in the Hills Creek Community of Warren County. In 2010 Bro. Killian celebrated his 50th year in ministry. Following in his father's footsteps, he was the pastor of the same church, Philadelphia, The Baptist Church, for many years, as well as many more of the Baptist Church of Christ Churches in the area. Additionally, he worked many years in the freight industry and was also a WWII Veteran. Glyn has been a resident of Beersheba Springs since the mid 1930's. He was married to Eva Frances Gross in 1941; they raised their family atop Beersheba Mountain. After Beersheba Springs became incorporated, he was one of the original city commissioners. He was also a charter member of the Beersheba Springs Volunteer Fire Dept. Currently, he was the pastor of Panhandle Baptist Church and also worked at Layne Funeral Home. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Eva Frances Killian; son, Michael "Mike" Killian; granddaughter-in-law, Sherri Killian; brother, John Casey Killian; and sisters, Thelma Killian Scott, Sue Killian Crownover, Mildred Killian Johnson and Lora Killian Smith. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Trish Killian of Knoxville and daughter-in-law, Sue Killian of Chattanooga. Additionally, he is survived by his grandchildren: Craig Killian, wife Robin; Jason Killian, wife Lori; Jeff Killian, wife, Ella; Scott Killian; Chad Young; Emily Young; Lindsay Young; and great-grandchildren, Austin, Ella Kate and Eva Ruth. Bro. Glyn is held in his regard in his community, his congregation, and his family. His smiling face, amusing stories, and joyful presence will be missed in churches, the post office, and many homes. Funeral services were held Monday, November 21, 2011 in the Layne Funeral Home Chapel at Altamont with Bro. James Wright and Bro. Barry Whiteaker officiating. Special remarks were given by the grandchildren, daughters-in-law and his son, Jerry. Burial was in Philadelphia Cemetery. Arrangements by Layne Funeral Home, Altamont, TN.
