COALMONT - Mr. John Thomas Parks, Jr., 77, passed away Monday, July 30, 2012. He attended the Coalmont United Methodist Church and was a US Army veteran. He retired from US Express. He was born in Chattanooga on July 09, 1935 to John and Alma Cook Parks, Sr. who preceded him in death along with his sister, Etta Price. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty Jo Meeks Parks; son, Michael L. Parks and fiancee, Vicki Bitler; sister, Loretta (Danny) Simmons, Chicago, IL; brothers, Benny, Melvin and Terry (Glenda) Parks, Chattanooga; grandsons, Jason and Isaac (Ashton) Parks; great-grandchildren, Kayla Michelle, Michael Vaughn, Kaden Michael and Trace Thomas; a host of loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday in the funeral home chapel with Minister Clayton Jones officiating with burial to follow in the Coalmont Cemetery. Visitation: 3:00 PM - 9:00 PM Thursday at Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, Tennessee.
