Obituary of Earl Edward Pickett

Gruetli-Laager – Mr. Earl Edward Pickett, 93, passed away Monday August 22, 2016 at the hospital in Sewanee. He was born in Gruetli-Laager on October 17, 1922 to Abner Jackson and Beulah Mae Morgan Pickett who preceded him in death along with his son, Don Pickett; brothers, Buford, Harvey and Norman Pickett; sisters, Vivian Melton, Eula Nunley, Laura Hopkins, Ida Mae Sanders and Abbie Burroughs. He enlisted in the US Army on January 15, 1943 in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. Earl enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and farming. He was employed mostly in the sawmill and timber business. He is survived by his wife, Willie Mae Braden Pickett; daughters, Rhonda Pickett and Jana (Faron) Crisp; sons, Jeffery (Janine) Pickett and Bradley Pickett; 5 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; a host of loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday in the funeral home with Bro. Faron Crisp officiating with burial to follow in the Fall Creek Cemetery.
