Obituary of Howard Shirley Cunningham

Gruetli-Laager – Mr. Howard Shirley Cunningham, 91, died Sunday November 27, 2016 at his home. He was born in Palmer, Tennessee on January 5, 1925 to Webb and Sarah Gipson Cunningham who preceded him in death along with his wife, Virginia Rae Burnett Cunningham; son, Allen Howard “Ramey” Cunningham; granddaughter; Andrea Cunningham; sisters, Mary Louise “Tootie” Tate and Corine Rollins; brothers, Carl “Todd”, Bill R., George W. “Mutt”, Bobby Gene and James Edward “Beefy” Cunningham. Shirley was a member of the Laager Congregational Methodist Church. He was a Coalminer in his early years and later retired from TVA. He was a US Navy veteran of WWII. He is survived by his grandson, Ryan (Lorie) Cunningham; sisters, Helen Arbuckle and Earlene Bryant; 3 great grandchildren; several loving nieces and nephews. Graveside Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday at the Fall Creek Cemetery with Pastor Matthew Meeks officiating and Military Honors provided by the Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard.
