He made being at Lipscomb fun whether it was his performance in the Freshman talent show or making hilarious impromptu announcements at High-Rise.
There was only one Gary Boulden at Lipscomb that could hit that memorable level of entertainment.

I got to know Gary many years ago when he was writing his Showbiz ariticle for The Grundy County POST. A long and endearing friendship ensued. He always made sure that my family and I had cards for every holiday, birthday, anniversary, etc. Gary was one of the kindest and most beautiful souls I have had the pleasure to know. He brightened so many people's lives. The world will be a bit darker and less warm without him. My sincere condolences to his family....

I will be at work and unable to attend visitation or the service. However, Gary was a great man. He and my great grandfather Y.b. Ashby knew each other very well. I remember Gary from when I was a small child.
My condolences to the family.

My husband Gary and I were so very sorry to hear that our friend had passed. I never failed to get a card from Gary at Valentines, my birthday, our anniversary and His Christmas card was always the first one we got every year. I got a birthday just a few weeks ago, little did I know that it would be my last one. I know that the family will miss him desperately because I know there are a lot of people just like me that will forever remember the kindness he showed in the form of a card. Rest In Peace sweet Gary! Love you!

I was saddened to learn of Gary's passing. I am so lucky to have known Gary. He touched my life. What a wonderful tribute his obituary is. it made me smile. I will always remember how proud he was of his art work and how much it meant to him. He also shared with me how much he loved his family. God-speed Gary.

I was saddened and shocked to hear of Gary's passing. I am so sorry for the loss of him for his family and his many friends here on the mountain.
I received a letter from Gary in March or early April in which he told me about his life in Franklin and how happy he was. He told about his art and riding the trolley to the movies on Saturdays. How thoughtful he always was to me and to Big David, always sending birthday cards, Christmas cards and sympathy cards to us.
I am sure that he is happier than he has ever been now that he is in the presence of our heavenly Father. I am sure he grinned that big grin when the Father said to him," Well done, my good and faithful servant!"
In Christ's Peace,
Ellen Campbell

Gary was a gentle soul who loved everybody. You can't say that about many people, and his passing leaves an empty space in so many hearts. With his valentine, birthday, get-well, anniversary, and sympathy cards, he brought joy and comfort. He brought joy to people not only in Grundy County, but across the United States.
Back on Valentine's Day 2018, it was my pleasure to write an article in the Grundy County Herald about Gary and his cards. He really liked it and sent me a thank-you note.
Looking back, I am so glad I got to write that article.
Rest in peace, Gary. Memories of your good deeds will live on as a wonderful example of a true Christian life. Palmer Town Historian David Patton
