Gary was a gentle soul who loved everybody. You can't say that about many people, and his passing leaves an empty space in so many hearts. With his valentine, birthday, get-well, anniversary, and sympathy cards, he brought joy and comfort. He brought joy to people not only in Grundy County, but across the United States.
Back on Valentine's Day 2018, it was my pleasure to write an article in the Grundy County Herald about Gary and his cards. He really liked it and sent me a thank-you note.
Looking back, I am so glad I got to write that article.
Rest in peace, Gary. Memories of your good deeds will live on as a wonderful example of a true Christian life. Palmer Town Historian David Patton
