Hope it's never too late to say something good. Y.B. Just happens to be one of the folks I took the time to tell how I felt about him. He was my friend for thirty years or so. Always upbeat and ready for a new project. His body may have gotten old but his spirit and his mind never did. Thanks for making your home here and becoming an endearing icon to our community. If there's no newspaper, TV, radio, Chamber of Commerce or Veteran representative in heaven who knows. We do know there's rewards. Would not surprise me that occasionally it be a plaque with Ashby Trophies and Printing on the back. Hope to see you again ole friend. Keith

On Behalf of the family of Douglas J. Ashby, son of YB, we extend our deepest sympathy and condolences to all of YB’s family, friends, and parishioners. We, unfortunately, could not make the funeral since we were handling another parental funeral on the distaff side of the family. We are sure YB will be deeply missed since he gave himself so completely to all those he loved and was so very committed to his community, his church, and, of course, to our servicemen and women. May all of your fond and precious memories comfort you in this time of grief and pain and may God bless you and give you the strength to endure this trying time and may He heal you with the reassurance of His everlasting love. May you also be comforted in knowing that those of us in Texas who could not make the funeral had our own memorial for YB on Sunday, November 10, 2013.
