Obituary of Y.B. Ashby

Gruetli-Laager - Mr. Y.B. Ashby, 92, died Sunday November 3, 2013 at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville. He was born in Madisonville, Texas on March 3, 1921 to Yancy Barton and Nettie Crutchfield Ashby who preceded him in death along with his step-mother, Nellie Ashby; brothers, Robert and Orvil; sister, Ruth; infant grandson, Goldie Ashcraft. He was a member of the Altamont Church of Christ and had preached for 55 years serving several congregations. He was owner of Ashby Printing and Trophies, Founder of the Grundy County Veterans Historical Society and US Air Force veteran. He is survived by his wife of 67 years Lea Wright Ashby; daughters, Donna (Mark) Ward; Murphy, NC and Linda Ashcraft, Gruetli-Laager, TN; grandchildren, Tami (Don) Freitas, Jennifer (Ed) Anderson, Bethany Ashby, Phillip Ashby and Jason Ashcraft; great grandchildren, Destiny (AJ) Noe, Teron Nunley, Richie Freitas, Devin and Turner Ashby; 1 great great grandson, Izaiah Noe. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Ministers Ray Winton, Joe Gray and Phillip Fults officiating with burial to follow in the Swiss Colony Cemetery with military honors provided by the Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard.
