Obituary of Minnie Colleen Smith

Coalmont – Ms. Minnie Colleen Smith, 58, of the Cumberland Heights Community passed away Sunday, September 3, 2017 at the Saint Thomas West Hospital in Nashville after a brief illness. She was born in Coalmont, Tennessee on May 3, 1959.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernie Prater Smith and Lydia Jeweldean Jones Tate; son, John Michael Childers.

She had been a dispatcher for the Grundy County 911 and had worked with print services at the University of the South in Sewanee.

She is survived by her sisters, Judy Ann Fults and Cynthia “Cindy” (Dean) Seagroves; several loving nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews; step-children, and step-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, September 9, 2017 in the funeral home chapel with Dr. William "Willie" Childers officiating. Visitation: 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM Friday and 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM Saturday at Layne Funeral Home, Altamont, Tennessee. www.laynefuneralhome.com
